We have a whole new group of Measure Makers to share with y’all! In case you didn’t know, a Measure Maker is a sewing blogger who we team up with so they can bring our fabric to life! Whether they draft their own pattern or use a favorite sewing pattern, they always come up with something awesome!
To start us off, we have Cristy from Love You Sew! She describes herself as a “business minded home sewer” She’s our go to leather girl. She is able to visualize the bag she wants, make a pattern, and then add useful, modern edits to personalize her project.
With our taupe leather and fabric, she duplicated a designer bag for way less than the $350 price tag. Plus she added pockets and got to add a fun colorful lining. We’re obsessed with her savvy, custom creation!
Then she blew us away with a waist bag in our oh so supple, luxurious full-grain navy leather. We know what we're making next!
Next, we have Trish from Trish Stitched! She's our petite queen who is a master of up-cycling. As a petite woman, I am so excited to see her design for us shorties (She's 4'9! and I tower over her at a staggering 5'2). She can take any thrifted find and turn it into something cute, modern, and perfectly fitting. I'm really in awe of her creativity and effort to stay away from fast fashion. Also, can we talk about #fitnessgoals ? She has run in 2 full marathons, a few half marathons, and many 5ks! This perfectly explains why she is so great at activewear - just look at the athletic set she made using our abstract raised grain Ponte knit. She used True Bias's Hudson Pant sewing pattern and cropped the Seamwork Skipper sewing pattern for the top!
Of course, she's a master at tailoring too! She took Simplicity sewing pattern 8086 to make a kate spade lookalike. Just look at the fit of this dress she made with our Striped Twill! Those stripes match perfectly and it fits her wonderfully.
Then we go all the way to Canada for Sylvia Nettey from The Ravel Out! When she's not hiking up mountains, she's sewing together some great everyday pieces! Sylvia has lots of fun playing around with patterns to make her design dreams come true. She's always down for a bold pop of color like in this amazing dress she made form our bold leopard print jersey! She used Grainline Studio's Hemlock tee sewing pattern and revamped it to make it a dress!
Sylvia also got to use our abstract raised grain Ponte knit and showed how she would dress it up a little bit! Once again, she altered a pre-made swing pattern by lengthening Friday Pattern Company's Adrienne blouse. Such a funky, modern fabric really lent itself to the structure of those fun sleeves. Love it!
Our devout Hufflepuff ambassador is Holly from Holly Dolly Darling! Not only does she have her style and fit down perfectly, but she frequently uses her leftovers to make things for her adorable daughter, Penny. One look at her blog and you'll fall in love with both her and Penny's modern and whimsical wardrobes. She started us out with this dreamy flowy top (Simplicity sewing pattern 8636) in our slub linen - and surprised us with the most ADORABLE pair of ruffle overalls for Penny from Hello Dear Kids!
]Next, Holly chose this stunning Rebecca Taylor twill with the Daniela print. She made it in our favorite Closet Case Kalle pattern, and made a matching breezy frock for Penny from this Hello Dear Kids pattern! Feel free to adopt us Measure girls and sew for us any time, Holly!
And finally, rounding out our new group of Measure Makers is Katie Kortman! A mom of 4, she blows us away with her designs and fearlessness. You may recognize her from her colorful Instagram page, or have even participated in #SewHappyColor Month, which she created! She painted some of our bamboo rayon for blue/green week and made this awesome top! She also made a Closet Case Kalle sewing pattern and used our Jacquard paints to create her print.
Then, she used our 70's cluster stripes to make this wow-factor dress. We're still in awe.
